An Orisha is a manifestation of God. Followers believe that these spirits will give them help in life, if they carry out the appropriate rituals, and enable them to achieve the destiny that God planned for them before they were born.

Yemaya is the Orisha of lakes and seas and the patron of women and of motherhood and the protector of sailors. Yemaya is maternal, dignified and nurturing, the spiritual mother of all. She is also an Orisha of mystery, reflected in the depths of her waters.
